I twice lived in Seattle for a minute, and I have never shut up about it ever since. I get back there whenever I can, and fortunately for me, one of my best friends now lives in Capital Hill with her RLAM boyfriend. I spent last weekend with them (rapture). While there, I was exposed to all manner of wonderful people places and things, not the least of which was a field trip to the warehouse-y Georgetown studio of one Katrina Hess, who owns a custom tailoring outfit called Made in Sodo.
I was in a wee bit of a blissed out trance as a result of my Seattle high, and before I knew it I had committed to buying an outrageously awesome, custom-fitted, perfectly amazing in every way fashion raincoat a la Katrina. I am so excited to get this item.
I did have a minor freakout when I walked out of Katrina’s idyllic artist’s loft and realized how much I committed to spending on this raincoat. But don’t worry, you guys, I have a plan to crowdfund my new fashion raincoat. I would never expect something for nothing, so I’m tossing around a few ideas about how to get my friends to pitch in willingly and enthusiastically. I’ll be getting back to you soon. In the meantime, some pictures from my visit to Katrina’s studio:
